After arriving at Shin-Chitose airport, walk to a hotel connected to the airport terminal. You can find restaurants, or buy food to bring to the hotel room to eat.

After check out of hotel go to Furano. Visit a winery, cheese factory, and Tomita Farm known for their seasonal flowers and lavender fields. Next to Biei and go to Shikisai-no-Oka, a panoramic flower garden on a hill then drive along the “Patchwork Road” and see the nice flower landscape scenery. Then go to see Aoi-Ike (Blue Pond), a man-made pond where the color of the blue color changes with the weather. Then go to hotel.

After leaving the hotel go to ride the Asahidake Ropeway, you can see nice views of the mountains, Mt. Asahi is still an active volcano & the highest mountain in Hokkaido. Then go to Asahikawa, for lunch at the Asahikawa Ramen Village where there a several ramen shops to choose from. Then visit Otokoyama Sake Brewery & Museum, famous sake within Japan and worldwide. Next go to Asahiyama Zoo, a municipal zoo and northernmost zoo in Japan. Then go to hotel.

After check out of the hotel go to Sounkyo Gorge, in the north of Daisetsuzan National Park. See their two famous waterfalls, Ryusei-no-taki and Ginga-no-taki.   Next visit the Kita-kitsune Farm (North Fox Farm) where they breed these red fox of Hokkaido.   Then go to hotel.

After leaving the hotel go to see Mt. Io (Iozan), still an active volcano where you can see the yellow sulfurous vents. Next go to see Lake Mashu, a clear caldera lake, it is often covered with thick fog making it a mysterious lake.   Then visit the Abashiri Prison Museum, building that have been used since the Meiji-era (1868-1912), is preserved from then and is open to the public. Next visit the Okhotsk Ryuhyo (Drift Ice) Museum, and then see the Koshimizu Gensei-kaen (wild flower preserve) which is between the Sea of Okhotsk and Tofutsu, beautiful spot and part of Abashiri National Park. After check out of the hotel go to Lake Akan. It is a beautiful crater lake in Akan National Park. It is home to the Marimo, a rare algae species that forms itself into green balls. And also look around the Ainu town with shops to look at.   Then go to hotel in Obihiro.   After dinner go to Kita-no-Yatai for those that want to go look, it is a series of cubicle-size eating & drinking places built with simple materials.

After leaving the hotel visit a Salmon Park, next go to Northern Horse Park, have fun experience riding the horses and enjoying nature. Next visit Jigokudani (Hell Valley), appropriate named valley above the town of Noboribetsu onsen, which you can see hot steam vents, sulfurous streams, and is main source of Noboribetsu’s hot spring waters.   Next visit Noboribetsu Bear Park, see the many brown bears that are raised here. After checking out of the hotel go to see Showa-Shinzan, a volcanic lava dome formed during the Showa period (that’s how it got it’s name). Next go to Yoichi town and visit the Nikka Whiskey Distillery. Then go fruit-picking (likely Japanese cherries). Then go to hotel in Otaru, conveniently located with Aeon Mall.

Sightseeing within Otaru. See the Kitaichi glassworks, music boxes.   Explore the port town of Otaru riding a rickshaw and enjoy different views of the surrounding scenery. Next visit Shiroi Koibito Park, well-known Hokkaido confectionery is produced, chocolates and European-style cookie manufacturer. Dinner is at Sapporo Beer Garden Rest., their specialty Genghis Kan BBQ (grilled lamb). Then go to hotel in Sapporo.

After checking out of the hotel go to see Okurayama Ski Jump, former Olympic ski jump stadium used during the 1972 Winter Olympics. Next visit Nijo Market, a public market for fresh seafoods, produce, etc. Next go to Tanukikoji, a roof-covered old shopping arcade for last minute shopping.
