Shikoku island is about 12 times bigger than Oahu. It has 4 prefectures, full of individuality Kagawa pref., Tokushima pref., Kochi pref., and Ehime pref. You can experience a culture, food, nature, industrial & various other features of Shikoku. On this tour we expect to arrive at the hotels before 4pm. Leisurely sightseeing and for those that are tired of the same kind of Japan tour we recommend this tour.

AOAWO RESORT

From the hotel go to Awaji-Oshima. Visit the Hokudan Earthquake Memorial Park, you can experience the magnitude 9 earthquake shake. After lunch we go to see the Naruto Whirlpools, they are tidal whirlpools in the Naruto strait, a channel between Naruto and Awaji Island. Enjoy the viewing cruise of the Naruto Whirlpools. Then we go to the hotel.

KOTOSANKAKU

From the hotel we visit the Ainoyakata (Indigo dyeing museum). We can learn the history of indigo, such as the tools used to grow and process indigo, see the mansion of a large indigo merchant that remains from the Edo period. And we can try Indigo dyeing. Next go to the Awa-odori Kaikan and watch the traditional dance of Tokushima performance on stage. After lunch we visit Reizanji temple and the Okuboji temple. These are the first and last temple on the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. We can learn the culture of the Shikoku 88 temple pilgrimage. Then we go to the hotel.

SUN ROAD KIBIJI

From the hotel we visit the Marugame Uchiwa Fan Museum. Marugame Uchiwa fans now account for 90% of all fans produced in Japan, and over one billion are made each year. In 1997 the Japanese government officially recognized them as traditional craft products. Let’s experience making Uchiwa. Next when crossing the Seto Ohashi go to Washuzan Observatory, a great viewing of the Seto Ohashibridge and it’s surrounding. After lunch we visit Kurashiki Bikan area, a historical district with classic architecture situated along a canal. Then we go to the hotel.

OKUDOGO
ICHIYU NO MORI



From the hotel take a tour of the Shimanami Kaido which between Hiroshima and Shikoku there are 6 islands and is connected with 7 bridges. We go to Omishima island and visit a Salt Factory. Then we visit Oyamazumi Shrine, it is the oldest shrine in Ehime. There is a treasure hall with displays of these offerings of swords, armor and other military equipment within the shrine precincts. It is estimated that the collection of weapons and armory are 80% of the nation’s National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. Enjoy looking at Samurai weapons. After lunch we go to Oshima island & visit the Murakami Pirate Museum, it presents the maritime history of the pirates known as “the lords of the sea” who were in control of the Seto Inland Sea during the Sengoku period. Then go to Mt. Kiro Observatory Park, the best view spot of the Shimanami Kaido. Next visit the Imabari Towel Museum. This is the world’s first towel museum dedicated to the art of towel manufacturing. Then we go to the hotel.

ROYAL HOTEL TOSA

From the hotel visit Dogo onsen town, enjoy the atmosphere of the onsen town. Dogo onsen honkan is currently under renovation. Next go to see Chinkabashi, a submersible bridge and Niyodo river, consistently ranks as the purest river in the country and so is often referred to as “Japan’s most beautiful river.” After lunch we experience making Washi Japanese paper, a handicraft of Kochi prefecture. Then we go to the hotel.

ROYAL HOTEL TOSA

From the hotel we visit the birthplace of Iwasaki Yataro. Iwasaki Yataro (1835-1885) was the founder of Mitsubishi, the giant Japanese conglomerate. Then we go to Kochi’s Sunday Market, this weekly market has been a part of life in Kochi city for over 300 years. There are varieties of shops & stalls, about 300 that lines the road. Next go to Hirome Market, nicknamed “Kochi’s Kitchen,” it is home to about 65 stalls. This is a great market to try a wide range of Kochi’s specialties. Enjoy lunch on your own at Hirome Market. After lunch visit Nishijima Farm, see how they grow the melons then you get to eat their sweet melon. Next go to Tosa Knife Distribution Center. Tosa cutlery is a traditional craft of Kochi pref. that has been around for about 400 years. This cutlery store has a huge inventory of about 3000 items that includes kitchen knives for home and restaurants, garden tools like sickles and pruners, etc. Then return to same hotel.

SHODOSHIMA
OLIVEAN YUHIGAOKA

From the hotel we visit Kazurabashi in Iya Valley, it is a suspension bridge made of mountain vines. Then we go to see the Oboke and Koboke gorges, they were made by the rapid current of the Yoshino river crossing the Shikoku mountains over a period of 200 million years. These gorges are 5 miles lonģ and gives a beautiful landscape looking like soaring marble sculptures. After lunch we visit Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu, one of the most famous beautiful historical gardens in Japan. Next go to Takamatsu port to ride a ferry and go to Shodoshima island. OLIVEAN YUHIGAOKA

From the hotel we go to see the Angel Road which you can walk across at low tide. Then we go to see Nakayama Rice Fields, there are about 800 large and small rice fields that have been selected as one of the “100 Best Rice Terraces in Japan”. Next visit the Olive Park, Shodoshima is the origin of olive cultivation in Japan. You can sample and buy the various olive-related products, such as olive oil, olive candy, olive cosmetics, olive noodles and try the olive cream. Then we go to ride the Kankakei ropeway, Kankakei is one of Japan’s one of three major canyon beauty, a symbol of Setonaikai National Park. After lunch we visit Yamaroku Soy Sauce factory, it is made in the old-fashion way with high quality, all natural ingredients and a long fermentation period. After a short tour of the factory, you can try their shoyu pudding. Then we go back to the same hotel.

From the hotel we visit Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village, the scenery of the early Showa period is waiting for you. Take a step into the village, and slip back into the nostalgic Showa period. At 11:40 from Shodoshima port ride a ferry and go to Himeji port, about 2 hours ride, enjoy the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Lunch is Shodoshima bento on the ferry. Then we go to the hotel in Kobe. In Kobe after check-in hotel then you can enjoy shopping at places like Aeon Mall, Daiso, Uniqlo, etc. near the hotel.

From the hotel we visit the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum. The museum introduces Japan’s culture of wood and craftmanship and the specialized tools used in traditional architecture. Anyone with even a casual interest in japanese architecture and woodworking traditions will find this museum fascinating. Lunch is world famous Kobe beef steak. After lunch we ride a ropeway to go to Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, is Japan’s largest herb garden with around 75,000 herbs and flowers of about 200 kinds blooming throughout the year. Enjoy seeing many kinds of flowers. Then we go to Kansai airport for your departure flight to Honolulu.
